After 18 years as Judicial Vicar, Monsignor Edward Hankiewicz (pictured above) is resigning effective Oct. 1; Bishop Walkowiak has appointed Tribunal Judge Father Kevin Niehoff to succeed Monsignor Hankiewicz.
Bishop Walkowiak has accepted a letter of resignation from Monsignor Edward Hankiewicz as judicial vicar for the Diocese of Grand Rapids, effective Oct. 1, 2020. Monsignor Hankiewicz has served for 18 years as judicial vicar in the diocesan Tribunal Office. He was appointed judicial vicar pro tem on May 15, 2002 and on July 1, 2008, he was appointed judicial vicar. His canonical acumen in the role of judicial vicar has been of great service to our current and previous bishops. His work in marriage nullity cases has helped many individuals experience healing in broken relationships. Monsignor Hankiewicz continues as pastor of St. Isidore Parish in Grand Rapids.
Bishop Walkowiak also announces that Father Kevin Niehoff, O.P., J.C.L, currently a tribunal judge in the diocesan Tribunal Office, is appointed judicial vicar, effective Oct. 1.
