Most Reverend Robert J. Rose, bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Grand Rapids, age 92, entered into eternal life on Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Bishop Rose was born on February 28, 1930, the son of Urban H. and Maida A. (Glerum) Rose.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mrs. Everett (June) Wittenbach and Mr. James Rose. He is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.

Bishop Rose was the second bishop of the Diocese of Gaylord from 1981 to 1989. He was installed as the ninth bishop of the Diocese of Grand Rapids, where he served from 1989 until he was granted senior priest status in October 2003.
