Novena for Dobbs: June 1-9, 2022
In the days leading up to the June decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Bishop Walkowiak is inviting the faithful of the diocese and all people of good will to join in praying a Novena for Dobbs, June 1-9.
As of early June, a decision by the Supreme Court regarding Dobbs v. Jackson, the case that is expected to overturn Roe v. Wade, had not yet been handed down. With about a month left in the Supreme Court’s current term, a ruling in Dobbs v. Background on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization
During 2021, the United States Supreme Court agreed to take up the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The case addresses the constitutionality of a 15-week abortion ban passed into law in Mississippi, and has the potential to overturn Roe v. Wade. The question before the Supreme Court is whether all pre-viability bans on elective abortions are unconstitutional. Oral arguments were held in December, and a decision is expected in June 2022.
