Thank you to our presenters and to everyone who joined us for Diocesan Assembly 2020 on Sept. 26! Watch for updates and video of the presentations from Saturday’s event on our website and social media.

Catholics across the diocese were invited to participate in “Diocesan Assembly 2020: Encounter” Saturday, Sept. 26. The first of a three-year series of events, the online gathering replaced the annual fall catechetical conference and offered the opportunity for Catholics diocesan-wide to participate virtually.

During Diocesan Assembly 2020 participants were inspired by the encounter of the woman at the well (John 4:4-42); heard stories of personal encounter with Christ in our Church and in service to the world, and were challenged to share the Good News with those we encounter in our daily life.

During morning prayer, Bishop Walkowiak, in his homily, invited every member of the diocesan family of faith to the practice of Encounter+1; encounter with Christ over the coming year in the spirit of John 4:4-42 and Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation Evangelii Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel). Encounter+1 is a series of practices through which Catholics are encouraged toward closer union with Christ and with our neighbors by devoting one minute to prayer each day, one hour each month to reading Scripture, and by inviting and accompanying one person this year to Mass.

The online event was livestreamed from Cathedral Square Center and presented in both English and Spanish. Watch for videos of the day’s presentations which will be posted soon to diocesan social media.
