Reverend Joseph Fix, pastor of St. Agnes Parish in Marion and Sacred Heart Parish in Evart, died Thursday, May 13, 2021 after a battle with cancer.

Father Fix was born on October 21, 1941 in Alpine Township, son of Joseph and Delores (Kline) Fix. He is survived by his siblings: Robert Fix, Mary Weisenburger, Suzanne (Jack) Paas, Janet Thompson, Raymond (Alexandra) Fix, Delores (John) Olthoff, Jeanne (Robert) Enell, Gerard (Rilma) Fix, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Father Fix attended St. Alphonsus Elementary School and Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids; Jordan Seminary in Menominee, MI; St. Mary Seminary in Baltimore, MD; and St. John Provincial Seminary in Plymouth, MI.  On June 1, 1968, he was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Allen J. Babcock. Father Fix’s first assignment was as parochial vicar of SS. Peter and Paul in Ionia.

  • August 1980: Appointed chaplain to the Mecosta County Jail
  • July 1987: Appointed pastor of St. Ann in Baldwin with a Mission in Luther
  • July 2000: Appointed pastor of Sacred Heart in Evart and St. Agnes in Marion.
