Deacon Edward Harwood, age 71, entered eternal life on June 13, 2026. He is survived by his six children Mary, Michael, David, Thomas, Andrew and Patrick. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne.
Deacon Harwood was born Oct. 1, 1954, to Clinton and Stella Harwood née (Bezara) in Grand Rapids. He attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School and West Catholic High School before graduating from Aquinas College.
Deacon Ed was ordained on Feb. 11, 2006, by Most Reverend Walter A. Hurley. During his diaconal ministry, he served parishioners at St. James, St. Mary and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Churches in Grand Rapids and the cluster parishes of St. Joseph in Wright, St. Francis in Conklin, and St. Catherine in Ravenna.
