On Saturday, June 5, Bishop Walkowiak ordained Noah Thelen to the priesthood during Mass at the Cathedral.

Ordination Mass on June 5 was open to the public due to recently announced changes to COVID-19 guidance for public worship in the diocese. Those unable to attend the Mass in-person were invited to watch the livestream online on the diocesan website or Facebook.

Meet our diocese’s newest priest:

Noah Thelen, seminarian of the Diocese of Grand Rapids

Deacon Noah I. Thelen

 

Father Noah I. Thelen, 27, is the son of Rex and Gwen Thelen of Grand Haven. His siblings are Alex, Schaefer and Clara. He is a member of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish in Grand Haven. He attended Grand Valley State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in 2015.

Father Noah received his Master of Divinity and Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology from the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary, Mundelein, Illinois, in spring 2021. He completed his pastoral internship at SS. Peter and Paul Parish in Ionia and St. Edward Parish in Lake Odessa, under the mentorship of Father Thomas Brown. He also served at St. Francis de Sales Parish in Holland, St. Stephen Parish in East Grand Rapids, and St. Paul the Apostle Parish in Grand Rapids. He was ordained a transitional deacon on May 16, 2020 and ordained to the priesthood on June 5, 2021 by Bishop Walkowiak at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew.

Father Noah celebrated his Mass of Thanksgiving at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish, 920 Fulton St., Grand Haven.

Father Noah will begin his assignment as parochial vicar of St. Francis de Sales Parish in Holland as appointed by Bishop Walkowiak. He will be returning to the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary to complete his Licentiate of Sacred Theology.

Diocesan seminarian David Jameson who'll be ordained a deacon on May 15, 2021

David A. Jameson

 

Deacon David A. Jameson, 40, is the son of Robert and Suzanne Jameson. His siblings are John and Paul. He is a member of the Basilica of Saint Adalbert in Grand Rapids. He attended Arizona State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in 2005. Deacon David will enter his final year of seminary studies and formation at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois, this fall, and is expected to receive his Master of Divinity in spring 2022. He completed his pastoral internship at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Grand Rapids, under the mentorship of Father Troy Nevins.

 

Diocesan seminarian David Sacha who'll be ordained a deacon on May 15, 2021

David J. Sacha

 

Deacon David J. Sacha, 24, is the son of Steven and Donna Sacha. His siblings are Michael, Thomas, Andrew, Elizabeth and Mary. He is a member of St. Alphonsus Parish in Grand Rapids. After attending St. Isidore Catholic School, he was part of the second class to graduate from All Saints Academy in 2010. Following his graduation from West Catholic High School in 2014, he entered St. John Vianney College Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he received his bachelor’s degree in 2018. Deacon David will enter his final year of seminary studies and formation at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois, this fall, and is expected to receive his Master of Divinity in spring 2022. He completed his pastoral internship at St. Francis de Sales Parish in Holland, under the mentorship of Father Charles Brown.

 

Diocesan seminarian Logan Weber who'll be ordained a deacon on May 15, 2021

Logan C. Weber

 

Deacon Logan C. Weber, 26, is the son of Charles and Kimberly Weber. He has one sibling, Garrett. He is a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Greenville. He attended Ferris State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in 2016. He worked for a short time at Ventura Manufacturing in Zeeland prior to entering seminary formation. Deacon Logan will enter his final year of seminary studies at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois, this fall, and is expected to receive his Master of Divinity in spring 2022. He completed his pastoral internship at Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Rockford, under the mentorship of Father Anthony Russo.
