
Sr. Maricela Martinez Aguilar, CCVI, co-director of catechesis for the diocese, was elected to her congregation’s leadership team. She will serve as general councilor for the congregation over the next four years. Sr. Maricela is a member of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. She professed her final vows on Aug. 21, 1993.
Sr. Maricela has dedicated her religious life to education, catechetical formation, and pastoral ministry. She has served in a variety of educational institutions and ministries throughout Mexico and the United States, including several CCVI-sponsored schools, such as Instituto Miguel Ángel, Colegio Central, Claudio María Dubuis, Colegio La Paz, Colegio Santa Catarina, and Instituto América. She has also ministered at Centro Universitario Incarnate Word and served in Hispanic Ministry within the Diocese of Grand Rapids. In 2023, Sister Maricela founded the Diocesan Catechetical Institute in the Diocese of Grand Rapids.
Sr. Maricela will be formally installed on Saturday, July 25 at 4 p.m. during a Mass celebrated by Most Reverend Gustavo García-Siller, MSPS. The Mass and installation ceremony will take place in the Chapel of The Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas.
