All Saints Academy (ASA) is a Catholic School, located in northeast Grand Rapids, inspired by the Holy Spirit and dedicated to teaching and living as Jesus did. We work in partnership with parents and our four founding parishes to develop leaders for the present and the future. Our well-rounded and challenging curriculum is fully accredited and based on national standards.

General Summary

The Principal/Executive Director’s primary purpose is to provide overall leadership for All Saints Academy School in order to achieve the fullest attainment of the school’s unique Catholic mission. The Principal is appointed and is delegated authority by the Canonical Administrator and acts as the leading operating and educational officer for the school with the guidance of the School Board in the implementation of goals and policies. As overall leader, the Principal bears ultimate responsibility for the integration of faith and learning within the school, for successful academic and student programs, and for effective management of the business and development affairs of the school. The Principal acts as the primary liaison between the school and the School Board, the Diocese of Grand Rapids and the broader community. The Principal works closely with the Canonical Administrator for coordination of school and ASA parish functions. The Principal is ultimately responsible for the successful overall operation of the school as accomplished through effective delegation of responsibilities to the faculty, staff and volunteers.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in educational leadership or administration with state of Michigan administrator certification or a master’s degree in education with a willingness to obtain administrator certification in the state of Michigan within three years.
  • The candidate must have a current Continuing, Life, Permanent, Professional, Provisional, or Standard Teaching Certificate for the State of Michigan at the level of administration for which the candidate is applying
  • A practicing Roman Catholic in good standing
  • Understands the structures, tenets and institutions of the Roman Catholic Church
  • Desire to collaborate with the Canonical Administrator in fostering the faith life of the school community in embracing Jesus Christ in the Roman Catholic
  • A life-long learner willing to obtain Advanced Catechist certification within five years
  • Final approval of the candidate by the Superintendent

Accountability

  • Hired by the Canonical Administrator (CA) in consideration of the selection committee’s recommendation and with the approval of the Superintendent of Catholic Schools.
  • Reports to the CA and is evaluated by the CA or his designee according to the process
  • established by the Superintendent of Catholic Schools.
  • Accountable to the School Board for the areas of responsibility delegated to the Board by the Pastor and the Diocese.
  • Accountable to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools in certain matters where diocesan policy and direction are concerned.
