Part Time Student Support and Academic Interventionist

Guided by Mother Mary, our patroness, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School learns, leads, and serves as disciples of Christ. IHM is seeking a faith-filled part time Student Support teacher.

Job Description

  • Provide support for students who need academic or behavioral interventions
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and paraprofessionals regarding students who are at-risk in the learning environment
  • Additionally, qualified applicants must be dependable, flexible, and able to maintain confidentiality

General duties may include, but are not limited to

  • Carry out academic interventions as outlined in Personal Learning Plans (PLPs)
  • Provide direct instruction for a remediation of skills in individual or small groups
  • Help build the school’s faith community by a demonstrated willingness to participate in and plan school religious and service activities
  • At all times demonstrate professional responsibility in enforcing diocesan and school policies and regulations
  • Maintain confidentiality of information, display sound judgment in dress and general behavior

Required knowledge/skills

  • Practicing Catholic living in accordance with the Magisterium of the Catholic Church
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan elementary teaching certificate (special education preferred)
  • An understanding of appropriate instructional strategies for elementary students
  • Knowledge about utilizing and planning for effective instructional uses of technology
  • Knowledge of current curriculum as outlined by the Catholic Diocese
  • An ability to work on and be a contributor to a highly professional team of teachers
