Position Description

St. Mary’s School is seeking an outgoing, organized, technically savvy long-term substitute
paraprofessional position for January 9th-June 6th. Our school, located on M104 in the Village of Spring
Lake just over the bridge from Grand Haven, has been faithfully educating the lakeshore of West
Michigan since 1954 according to the following mission:

in order that the Gospel of Christ may be known in the world.

Our ideal candidate will be a practicing Catholic passionate about joining our community to help us
uphold our school mission. The successful candidate must be able to integrate the doctrines of the
Catholic faith into the daily workings of the school office.
Paraprofessionals are essential in providing our students with the academic support they need. Under
the supervision of a lead teacher or the Student Services Coordinator, you will mentor students in
small groups or provide individualized attention to meet specific student needs.

Paraprofessional Duties

  • Model faith-filled dedication to upholding the mission of St. Mary’s Catholic School
  • Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials
  • Monitor student work and/or supervise curriculum-based testing
  • Tutor and assist students with makeup work
  • Review material with students one-on-one or in small groups
  • Ensure students follow school and class rules
  • Supervise students in class, between classes, and during lunch and recess
  • Facilitate the active involvement of students in their educational setting and school community

Qualified Applicants Must

  • Possess effective communication
  • Utilize time management and organizational skills
  • Work well with others, including staff and volunteers
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Utilize word processing and data organization platforms to facilitate consistent coordination of
    documents and communication

Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Monday-Friday 8:00-4:00 during the school year,
January 9th to June 6th, 2024.
