Job Description:
West Catholic is seeking a passionate and dedicated Junior Varsity (JV) Girls Basketball Coach to lead and develop student-athletes during the upcoming basketball season. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, a commitment to player development, and the ability to positively represent the school’s athletic program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and conduct practices for the JV girls basketball team
- Teach fundamental basketball skills, strategy, and teamwork
- Foster a positive, encouraging, and respectful team culture
- Collaborate with the varsity coaching staff to ensure program continuity
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and school-related events
- Ensure compliance with school, Diocesan, and MHSAA policies
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administrators
Qualifications:
- Prior coaching or playing experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level preferred
- Knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and player development
- Ability to serve as a positive role model for student-athletes
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Must pass a background check and meet all coaching requirements (CPR/First Aid, concussion training, etc.)
Schedule:
This is a seasonal position that typically runs from October through March with practices held on weekdays and games scheduled during evenings and weekends.
