Position Type: This is a 40 hour per week, exempt position which supports the Catholic schools on a “non-52” week schedule with some flexibility in the summer (mainly July).  There is a professional expectation that the employee offers support to students and schools as needed in the summer.  Note:  The first summer may require additional on-site presence for onboarding and planning.

The start date for this position is flexible up to July 2024.

Reports to:        Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology Integration

Responsible to:              Director of Information Technology and Superintendent of Catholic Schools

Effective:            February 2024

Broad Statement of Responsibilities:

Identify and leverage technology to further the goals of the Office of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Develop effective support systems and training protocols for student information system, and LMS users.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates the principles of continuous learning and supports the learning of others.
  • Develops, coordinates, and articulates processes and procedures for the centralized student information system.
  • Establishes standard best practices and standard operating procedures for data within the centralized SIS.
  • Assists with the development of internal data processes and flow among student data systems; including but not limited to Canvas, Infinite Campus, NWEA, G Suite for Education, College Board, and Finalsite; creates customized reports within and across systems.
  • Provides initial and ongoing professional development for technology systems users; including but not limited to large group trainings, shoulder-to-shoulder support, and virtual tutorials.
  • Oversees the coordination, training, and management of online learning platforms and resources.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with confidential data and maintain confidentiality.
  • Provides technical support to SIS users.
  • Responsible for data standardization in relation to internal and external reporting requirements including all State of Michigan reporting. Also responsible for data integrity in reports with regard to student accounting and ongoing academic reports.
  • Proactively seeks and evaluates new technologies to assist academic goals and professional development.
  • Works closely with instructional leaders to further the goals and objectives of the Office of Catholic Schools.
  • Aligns the use of data and technology in schools to the overall mission of Catholic education.
  • Assists schools with leveraging other available Diocesan technologies and services.
  • Oversees projects at the discretion of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology Integration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Educational Technology or related field required, with a Master’s degree preferred.
  • Practicing Catholic with catechist training and knowledge of the Catholic Church, including familiarity with its structure, function, and institutions.
  • Three to five years’ experience in a role involving interdisciplinary collaboration and technology integration in schools with knowledge of Catholic schools and their use of SIS and LMS technologies.
  • Ability to articulate strategy and ideas to entire school communities in a variety of formats.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff and administrators to develop and implement uses of technology.
  • Solutions-orientated with the ability to provide direct tech support to schools and answer tech-related tickets.
  • Knowledge of data privacy practices and laws.
