St. Robert of Newminster, Ada, a parish that serves approximately 2,000 families, is seeking a full time Director of Religious Education (DRE). The ideal candidate possesses a clear knowledge of the Catholic faith, is confident, energetic, collaborative, self-motivated, has a sense of humility, excellent communication skills, and is people smart. This person needs to be enthusiastic about forming our children in the Catholic faith, is responsible for designing, articulating and implementing a comprehensive religious education program for grades pre-k through 12th grade, using the guidelines from the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Coordination and collaboration with staff members and parishioners is crucial. This person reports directly to the Pastor.
Responsibilities:
• Develops, maintains and supervises the religious education programs.
• Fosters effective communication among all persons involved in the programs.
• Researches and purchases needed resources.
• Works with catechists to update Diocesan Certification files and provide in-service when necessary.
• Oversees paperwork and general correspondence, along with the administrative assistant and communications coordinator, regarding the parish religious education opportunities.
• Maintains the necessary records (i.e. attendance, etc).
• Provides input for the annual budget to the business office and finance council.
• Prepares Sacramental programs for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.
• Consults regularly with the Pastor regarding the progress of the Religious Education Program.
• Recruits for and leads OICA programming.
• Ensures compliance of Safe Environment policies and procedures (i.e. Virtus).
• Collaborates with the Director of Adult and Family Ministry.
Qualifications:
• Bold and unapologetically Catholic
• Degree in Theology/Religious studies, or equivalent
• Comfortable with technology
• Able to train and lead volunteers
