General Description:
Oversees music ministry, directs, coordinates all music personnel, and implements music which is liturgically appropriate for Parish weekend liturgies and other designated celebrations.
Job Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Pastor/Deacon to assure a creative and pastorally responsible integration of music within liturgy.
- Plans and coordinates a comprehensive music program for the Parish, assuring stylistic variety within a unified whole.
- Provides or coordinates instrumental accompaniment for weekend Masses, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, Holy days of obligation, and liturgies that are part of the Faith Formation program.
- a. Schedules a wide variety of musical groups for all liturgies: including but not limited to contemporary groups, hand bells, choirs, cantors, and other volunteers.
- b. Assists to select liturgically appropriate music for Masses
- Provides or oversees the music for weddings and ensures music selections are appropriate for Catholic liturgy.
- Provides encouragement, evaluation and appreciation to musicians of the Parish.
- Communicates necessary information between musicians, presiders, liturgist, etc.
- Maintains the music budget.
- Conducts rehearsals as needed and practices musical pieces.
- Maintains the choral/departmental organization.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Completes other related duties as necessary.
- Follow St Francis de Sales & St Michael the Archangel Employee Manuals.
Requirements:
- Ability to be organized and maintain electronic communications and files.
- Ability to play musical instruments.
- Understanding of the Catholic Mass.
- Background in Parish Ministry or in Music.
- Prior relevant experience.
Job Type: Part Time (10-12hrs), salary
Pay: $10,000/year- $12,000/year
