Devastating natural disasters in Morocco and Libya in September have left thousands dead and survivors without crucial necessities for sustaining life including water, food and shelter.

A powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Morocco south of Marrakech overnight on Friday, Sept. 8. In the wake of the powerful tremor and aftershocks that followed, reports indicate that more than 2,900 people have been killed with the death toll expected to rise.

Massive flooding in the northeastern part of Libya on Sept. 11 has killed at least 8,000 people. More than 30,000 people have been displaced and searches continue for the missing.

Pope Francis has expressed solidarity with the people of Morocco and Libya and offered his prayers for material help in response to the tragedies and the charity group(s) pledging to help distribute it.
