Monsignor Francis J. Murphy, age 78, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at his home in Cadillac, Michigan. He was born in Grand Rapids on Sept. 15, 1940 to Miles and Katherine Murphy. Monsignor Murphy attended St. Andrew’s School and St. Joseph Seminary in Grand Rapids, Mount St. Mary Seminary in Norwood, Ohio, and Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, Texas. He was ordained a priest by Bishop Allen J. Babcock at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew on June 4, 1966. He served in the Diocese of Gaylord for 48 years.
