Integral ecology is at the heart of Pope Francis’ vision for creation care as expressed in his famous encyclical Laudato Si’. This lecture explores the scientific aspects of integral ecology, along with the Pope’s approach to science in the encyclical. What can we learn from this as Catholics? Come reflect together on how these not-so-strange bedfellows might bring a spirit of dialogue and unity to our polarized society, especially in relation to pressing contemporary questions of natural and social ecology.
Sister Damien Marie Savino, FSE, Ph.D., is a Franciscan Sister of the Eucharist and currently serves as the Dean of Science and Sustainability at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has lectured and written widely on Laudato Si’ and integral ecology.
