Hope and Healing – The Art and Poetics of Restorative Justice

Sunday, Nov. 17, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Hope and Healing – The Art and Poetics of Restorative Justice, Cathedral Square Center, 360 Division Ave. S, Grand Rapids. Held during the annual observance of Restorative Justice Week, this exhibition will feature art submissions from incarcerated men in prisons throughout the diocese, many of whom are serving life sentences. Sponsored by the Diocese of Grand Rapids’ Prison and Jail Ministry, the Richard A. Handlon Correctional Facility’s Restorative Justice Club, and the Michigan Restorative Justice Council, the exhibition will focus on the theme of “Hope and Healing in a Restorative Context.” The artwork will be auctioned off during the exhibition; proceeds will help advance and promote restorative practices within our criminal justice system and communities.
