Behold! An evening in December

Thursday, Dec. 7, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Behold! An Evening in December. Join us for ecumenical dialogue and reflection during this Advent evening. Co-sponsored with Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Cathedral of Saint Andrew, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church.

When the word “behold” (in Hebrew, hinneh) appears in the Bible, there is more going on than just saying “Look! Here!” Behold! is an affirmation that the divine is at work, that God’s will is made visible – from the first days of creation (Gen. 1:31) to the angels announcing the birth of Jesus to the shepherds (Luke 2:10), to the moment Jesus “knocks on the door” of our hearts (Rev. 3:20).  In the season of Advent, it reminds us to prepare our hearts. For the good news and great joy of Christ’s coming is meant for all – bringing hope, peace, and love to the world.
