Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Lenten season. This year, Ash Wednesday falls on Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day. Since concurrence with Valentine’s Day doesn’t diminish Ash Wednesday’s penitential spirit or required fasting and abstinence, it is recommended that Valentine’s celebrations be observed on another day. Check your parish bulletin for Mass times/opportunities for the imposition of ashes and Lenten enrichment.
