On Sunday, Sept. 20, the faith community in the Diocese of Grand Rapids gathered at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew to observe the World Day of Migrants and Refugees. Bishop Walkowiak celebrated Mass for a beautifully colorful congregation that reflected the rich cultural diversity represented in the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Following Mass, members of the Hispanic, Vietnamese and African communities each performed dances and songs unique to their own cultures, and everyone gathered for a reception. It was a beautiful display of the universal Church that’s very much alive and well here in West Michigan.
