Pope Francis’ appointment of Bishop David J. Walkowiak (pronounced wall-cove-ee-ack) as the 12th bishop of the Diocese of Grand Rapids was announced on April 18, 2013. Bishop Walkowiak was ordained and installed the 12th bishop of Grand Rapids on June 18, 2013 at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew. He succeeded Most Reverend Walter A. Hurley.
