The Catholic Information Center (CIC) has received a five-year, $1.25 million grant from the Lilly Endowment. The grant money will support the CIC’s new initiative, “Formed as Disciples, Prepared for Mission,” which complements Bishop Walkowiak’s evangelization priority.

Through this initiative, the CIC wants to help parishes thrive by collaborating with pastors to form and equip parishioners to live out the lay apostolate. Parishioners will discover new gifts and partnerships through the CIC’s Leadership Formation Institute to build up parish life and bring the Gospel into the world.

“We believe that the parish is still an essential way for people to find spiritual support and strengthen their Catholic faith as a way of life today,” said Paulist Father Dat Tran, executive director of the CIC. “This initiative represents a very different way of being church. In collaboration with their pastors, this process opens new possibilities for the laity to exercise leadership from the ‘bottom up’ – and outward. We are very grateful for the Lilly Endowment’s support in funding this initiative.”
