Job Summary
The Varsity Assistant Tennis Coach will work with the Varsity Head Coach for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the tennis program from the sub-varsity to varsity level in accordance with the school’s mission of forming disciples of Christ through a dynamic, excellence-driven Catholic education. The Varsity Assistant Tennis Coach will strive to help each individual achieve a higher value of discipline, teamwork, good sportsmanship, academic achievement and self-esteem.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the coach in instructing athletes for competition, by teaching technique and promoting team building
- Represent the Catholic Central in a positive and professional manner when dealing with opponents, officials, players, parents and spectators
- Work with Varsity Coach to schedule practices and events
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff and students
- Ability to participate in a district-wide tennis program as necessary
- Must possess the knowledge and ability to teach tennis techniques and strategy
- Must possess the ability to represent the Catholic Central in a positive manner and implement MHSAA rules and policies of the Catholic Central Handbook
- The Coach contributes to the educational program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in sports so that they are successfully competitive
- The Coach must realize and appreciate the need for the sport program to work with other sports as a complement to the entire athletic department
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect and good sportsmanship
- Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes
- Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes
- Must possess knowledge of basic first aid
- Other duties may be assigned
Preference
Practicing Catholic is preferred.
