In 1967, Pope Paul VI first dedicated the solemnity of Mary to world peace, and each feast since 1968 has seen release of a papal message.

Pope Francis is marking the annual World Day of Peace Jan. 1 with a message titled:
“Dialogue Between Generations, Education and Work: Tools for Building Lasting Peace.” (Español | Additional languages)

In his 2022 message, Pope Francis urges the funding of education, not wars, and writes that the “architecture” and “art” of peace directly involves each one of us.
