St. Mary Catholic School is seeking a Preschool and Childcare lead teacher / Program Director for the 2022-23 school year. We are located in Big Rapids, MI serving the community since 1883. Big Rapids is the hometown of Ferris State University.
We are looking for a teacher passionate about working with students and engaging them in a faith-based environment to achieve academic excellence and spiritual growth. The candidate must have a sound understanding of working towards the mission of the school community.
The director is responsible and accountable for all preschool programs and before and after school childcare, all of which are licensed through the State of Michigan.
As Preschool/Childcare Director, the ideal candidate will:
● Direct the operations of all preschool programs and childcare programs.
● Lead teacher responsibilities for kindergarten prep program.
● Collaborate with K-8 administration for integration of programs.
● Be responsible for supporting and scheduling faculty and staff in preschool and childcare programs.
● Maintaining compliance with all licensing requirements for the State of Michigan.
● Monitor instructional staff to ensure instruction is developmentally appropriate and reflects best practices.
● Conduct annual performance reviews of all staff including overseeing professional growth of instructional staff.
● Coordinating and facilitating training for preschool and childcare staff to meet licensing requirements and current instructional practices.
● Assist principal and marketing director with marketing strategies and community outreach.
● Administrative duties to process enrollment of new and current families.
As Preschool and Child Care Lead Teacher/Program Director, the ideal candidate will:
● Develop each student’s personal relationship with Christ.
● Create a caring, faith-filled, and safe learning environment.
● Instruct preschool students with developmentally appropriate lessons that utilize the Creative Curriculum focusing on hands-on learning.
● Coordinate, collaborate and communicate effectively with preschool staff members and special area teachers.
● Communicate weekly updates with parents and caregivers in a consistent manner.
○ Include preschool staff on all parent communications.
● Participate in PLC meetings to coordinate instruction and long range planning with other lead teachers.
Additional requirements:
● Meet State of Michigan licensing requirements for director role
○ Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in education, child development or childcare administration as well as experience working with children and/or ZA Early Childhood endorsement will be given preference.
● Willing to pursue Diocese of Grand Rapids Catechetical Certification
● Maintain First Aid, CPR and Blood Borne Pathogen training
● Undergo background and criminal history check.
