West Catholic High School is seeking a full-time Food Service Director who will be responsible for all aspects of West Catholic’s food program, both on the high school campus and at the various elementary school lunch program locations.

  • Plans and supervises the preparation and serving of menus at all schools including breakfast, lunch, and supper programs. 
  • Establishes standard operating procedures, work performance standards, work schedules, and basic job descriptions. 
  • Is responsible for compliance of federal and state standards and guidelines regarding the school food service and the school food program, and when needed, interprets to the administration, the staff, and the public requirements. 
  • Leads a team of employees at various locations for their hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, supervision and performance reviews. 
  • Develops procedures for proper receiving, storage, and distribution. 
  • Completes state, federal and local reports. 
  • Manages and supervises the overall safety and sanitation programs in the school food service locations. 
  • Stays informed on new nutritional trends or concepts and on new developments in equipment that will improve and upgrade the school nutrition programs.
  • Manages an annual budget for purchasing food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Determines the cost of producing the school menu and recommends the prices for the program. 
  • Upholds the mission of West Catholic to form Disciples of Christ through a dynamic, excellence-driven Catholic education, with value placed on the dignity of work and the dignity of the human person. 

Job Qualifications 

  • Three years food service experience, preferably in a school 
  • One year of supervisory experience 
  • Maintain, or willingness to become and maintain, certifications and training necessary for food safety and management of food service.
  • Minimum of associates degree in related field. Formal education in food service and/or management preferred.
