Supervises: Dietary Aides
SUMMARY:
Responsible for the daily operations of the dining rooms in accordance with Health Department and licensing regulations and the policies and core values of the Grand Rapids Dominicans.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Maintains a hospitable, all-inclusive environment for residents and staff.
• Supervises daily Front of the House foodservice operations and staff.
• Supervises the serving of meals to residents, ensuring timeliness and compliance with HFA, State, and local food code regulations and guidelines. Ensures proper portion sizes and nutritional needs are met.
• Maintains and updates all food service records including staff attendance, diet orders, invoices, and all temperature logs.
• Manages inventory and ordering of linens, food stock, chemicals, and disposable products in compliance with department policy.
• Manages safety precautions as described in HACCP, local health code, and State.
• Maintains appearance to the standard described in the Foodservice Dress Code for self and staff.
• Prepares work orders for maintenance issues in the food service areas in the building to maintain proper operation of systems and equipment, cleanliness, and aesthetics of the dining environment.
• Assumes Dietary Aide and Dietary Manager job duties as needed.
• Collaborates with Dietary Manager on creating weekly Dietary Aide schedule for both facilities.
• Assists Dietary Manager with payroll monitoring and corrections.
• Assist with food transportation between both facilities as needed via department van.
• Assists Dietary Manager with interviews and selection of new employees.
• Organizes new hire orientation and training in collaboration with Dietary Manager.
• Works alongside staff to ensure all goals are met.
• Collaborates with Dietary Manager on performance reviews and corrective action, according to the Grand Rapids Dominican policies.
• Practices good stewardship of resources through the responsible use of food, supplies, equipment, staff, and furnishings.
• Participates in the Care-of-the-Earth vision by managing the process of using fewer material resources and by recycling.
• Hours include every other weekend and some holidays.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 3 years of dining services experience.
• 1 or more years of supervisory experience in quantity food service, preferably in a licensed health care or eldercare setting.
• High school diploma or high school equivalency, bachelor’s preferred.
• Valid MI driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Serve Safe certified.
• Knowledge of therapeutic and special diets a plus.
• Ability to operate various computer software and programs at an intermediate level such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and proprietary programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., sometimes more than 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and distances, sometimes while carrying or pushing heavy items.
