Art Teacher

The art teacher at CCHS will cultivate understanding, the appreciation, and the creation of the Arts
in a Catholic setting for lifelong appreciation. The teacher will help students develop skills through:

  • Expressing themselves creatively in various media in the visual arts
  • Communicating with others through the language of the arts
  • Respecting the rights of others’ artistic expression
  • Critically evaluating the artistic works of self and others
  • Comprehending the arts in a historical and cultural context
  • Cultivating creative solutions to problems and opportunities
  • Learning to be a discerning artist while manifesting an open mind to the arts in everyday life

Primary Responsibilities

In addition to content teaching, the selected candidate will:

  • Work as a servant leader of the Catholic faith and uphold values in word and action
  • Pursue professional growth and commit to being a lifelong learner
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school-wide opportunities
  • Be flexible in scheduling and responsive to student and school needs
  • Strive to improve curriculum for the benefit of all students and adapt lessons to reach all learners
  • Develop and administer a balance of traditional and authentic assessments that evaluate content knowledge and skills
  • Employ technology as a learning tool
  • Maintain classroom decorum, encouraging orderly and stimulating discussions and student participation
  • Provide support both in the classroom setting and during established office hours
  • Contribute to the school community outside of the classroom
  • Practicing Catholic preferred

Job Qualifications

The Art Teacher will be a person who has a dynamic personality, is organized, well rounded, engaging, and who seeks growth and collaboration inside and outside of the classroom. Additionally, they will:

  • Hold a degree in and teaching certificate in art.
  • Exhibit a strong interest in and concern for quality teaching, ideally with previous teaching experience.
  • Demonstrate an ability and commitment to furthering the Catholic mission and identity of the school.
