Bishop Walkowiak issues the following statement following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to uphold a Texas law protecting the unborn:

“Recently the Supreme Court refused to halt a Texas law that makes it unlawful for a physician to terminate a fetus with a detectable heartbeat. This is welcome news and a step in the right direction.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church recognizes the inherent dignity and worth of the unborn human person and considers abortion a crime against human life. ‘Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person – among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life’ (CCC 2270).”
