St. John Vianney Catholic School Announces an Inspirational, Collaborative Leadership Role
Position:        School Principal
Job Begins:   2019-2020 School Year
Enrollment:    Approximately 260 students

Grade Levels:  Pre-K – 8

Demographics:  Located in Wyoming Michigan, West Michigan’s third-largest city, St. John Vianney is in the heart of a beautiful, vibrant town. Incredibly close and convenient to downtown Grand Rapids, while still offering the beauty of a modern suburb, this booming urban area allows St. John Vianney to enjoy and benefit from an incredibly diverse community. This community is full of hard working, faith-filled, and generous families and its location, the southernmost school in the Grand Rapids Diocese, provides a wide geographic area from which our students originate. SJV draws students from multiple local parishes. Approximately 32% of St. John Vianney families speak a language other than English, primarily Spanish or Vietnamese, in the home. This extraordinary flourishing of cultures enhances St. John Vianney’s growth towards its mission to embrace the values of Catholic teaching.

School Culture:  Founded on the traditions of the Catholic faith, St. John Vianney school prides itself on students’ ability to S.H.I.N.E. (Self-control, Honesty, Inspire, Never Quit, Exemplify Christ). These traits are intricately woven into the fabric of the school. Faith, responsibility, and service to the community are stressed as vital parts of a well-rounded education. SJV has continued to not only set high academic standards, but also place an emphasis on students’ overall citizenship. The positive and family-like atmosphere takes center stage in every aspect of the school, from collaborative classroom activities to student interactions with peers and adults. Parents routinely express their love of the strong community in which older and younger students work together to learn and grow. Families are delighted with the special care that staff provide for students as they foster their love of learning and the Catholic faith. SJV continues to provide a learning environment where every child is guided to reach their full potential. It is this special care that makes walking through the halls of SJV feel like being home.

Position Overview
We are searching for an experienced individual who seeks to be the leader of a school community that prides itself on providing a top-rated education, surrounded by the practices of our faith and the teachings of our Lord.  The dynamic individual that we seek to fill this role must be, first and foremost, a practicing Catholic, deeply rooted in our faith.

Equally important, this individual should be passionate about creating a great educational environment for our pre-K-8 students, and will be committed to creating a vibrant school that has a positive impact on the parishes that support it.  Our principal will support and further develop our culture of inclusion, where every child feels welcomed and valued, and as a result is able to learn and reach their individual potential.

We seek an individual who is both inspirational and collaborative, who demonstrates excellent communication skills to work with the parish, the school faculty and staff, and most importantly, the students and their parents.  This leader is a problem solver with the ability to think outside of the box and work with staff and families to provide creative solutions.

Our principal will also be a key contributor to the growth of SJV, both in enrollment, and also in the influence on our parish and in the community.  Our school mission statement, “To enhance the total educational development of each student and to foster in them a sense of responsibility and awareness based upon the teachings of the Catholic Church”, calls us to partner with families who seek a Catholic education for their children.
