POSITION(S) SUPERVISED: Cleaning crew, volunteers and contractor

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education – High School diploma or equivalent; relevant trade/vocational school or certifications a plus

Experience – A minimum of three to four years working in buildings and grounds roles, or industrial maintenance roles.

Knowledge and Skills – Good mechanical aptitude and previous experience working with HVAC, air-handling systems, emergency generators and dewatering pumps, knowledge of lawn care functions, knowledge of building construction and the ability to organize and prioritize time. On-call availability for emergencies.

Must be able to read and use maintenance manuals and other technical instructions and accurately maintain material/chemical safety data sheets.

Other – Able to lift, up to 50 lbs. without accommodation.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for the effective, efficient and safe maintenance and upkeep of parish buildings and grounds. Needs to work as a team member to provide direct support for the cleaning crew, volunteers and contractors. Ability to work in fast-paced changing environment. Willing to actively support the vision, mission, goals, and objectives of St. Francis de Sales Parish.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

o Directs the work of the cleaning crew, performing maintenance/custodial duties as appropriate or needed.
o Coordinates volunteer activities for all seasons clean up.
o Supervises volunteers assisting with the maintenance of parish grounds – mowing lawn, weeds, pruning, raking, etc.
o Oversees the scheduling of contractors and maintenance needs for lawn, roofs, ice/snow removal and parking lot/walkways, sprinkling systems.
o Responsible for setting up rooms, chairs and tables, hauling and moving items, picking up parts and other equipment as requested by staff.
o Keeps safety logs and condition-of-the-building reports as required by insurance representatives.
o Maintains material/chemical safety data sheets.
o Orders and stocks cleaning and hospitality supplies.
o Manages and secures the electronic computerized door locks and key system.
o Attends workshops and classes to maintain or improve skills required to perform the job.
o Participates as a member of the Plant & Grounds Committee; provides information and research to the committee as requested and available.
o Arranges for repairs as needed or notifies business manager if/when systems need to be replaced.
o Works with business manager to obtain bids for work which cannot be done by staff and oversees fulfillment of contract terms.
