The Diocese of Grand Rapids is seeking a full-time Admissions Advocate for our Catholic Schools, with a strong preference for bilingual (English, Spanish) candidates. The advocate will be part of the Admissions and Enrollment team and assist in the enrollment growth efforts for all 31 schools (including 26 elementary and 5 high schools) in the Diocese. The Advocate will be responsible for recruiting prospective pre-K through 12th grade students, with strong emphasis on targeted groups including historically underserved populations from parishes without schools and Latino, immigrant, and African American students from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. This involves working directly with school personnel and interested students and their families.


• Assist with initiatives that focus on overall enrollment growth in the Diocesan Catholic schools as included in the Bridging Faith and Future Strategic Plan
• Provide assistance to individual schools in their efforts to increase enrollment
• Initiate personal contact with prospective families (phone and email) and extend invitations to enroll
• Participate in Masses, community, and parish events representing the Catholic schools and reaching out to families through general announcements or promotion tables/booth
• Foster and manage relationships with families of prospective students using tools and programs available
• Track data about families and community outreach
• Track personal efforts and work on initiatives and provide quarterly reports
• Foster relationships with parishes in the Diocese to improve outreach to all Catholic families
• Participate in specific student recruitment initiatives directed toward parishes with large underserved populations including phone calls, church announcements during mass and others
• Support schools in their efforts to reach out to Spanish speaking families, through translation, and interpretation during the enrollment process and beyond
• Provide information on and support for the admissions and financial aid application process for new students including school visits, initial forms and payments
• Pro-actively assist schools with their retention efforts of current students and families
• Prepare and transport materials (flyers, table cover, displays) for events and maintain a ready supply at the office
• Other duties as assigned


• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required, unless candidate has strong previous experience in education, marketing, sales and/or public relations.
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills
• Experience working with underserved populations and fluency in Spanish (spoken and written)
• Self-motivated, outstanding organizational skills, and exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to problem-solve and multi-task in a deadline-driven environment
• Strong commitment to strengthening and sustaining Catholic Pre-K through 12th grade schools
• Knowledge of and support for the mission of Catholic schools
• Open to working additional hours and some weekends (as needed)
• Familiarity with the Diocese of Grand Rapids Catholic schools and its geography, demographics, and community leadership
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite required
