What is Lent all about? The first recorded words of Jesus in Mark’s gospel sum it up nicely: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel” (Mk 1:15). Lent is a time to turn away from our earthly attachments and turn towards Christ; to give up bad habits and offer up our suffering to the Lord.
